A pest control story
Meet Dave.
Dave had a problem: mice in his store cupboard. He thought they were trying to get into the cereal packets, and he had found a half-eaten potato on the floor. There had been a few strange scuttling noises at night.
Dave tried all sorts of pest control products. He put down traps, but they were fiddly and messy and disposing of the dead mice made him feel queasy.
Next he tried poison, and it worked - at least one mouse must have died, but he couldn't find the body. The horrible smell lingered for three weeks.
Dave's mate told him about some ultrasonic pest control device he'd seen somewhere, so Dave got hold of one and plugged it in; but weeks later, the mice were still around. They didn't seem to notice the ultrasound. The neighbour's dog freaked out a bit, though.
Then Dave heard about Green Shield, and got in touch with us.
"I need some sort of pest control," he said. "I want something humane, something organic. But most of all, I need pest control that really works."
We sent Dave a Green Shield and he plugged it in. The little green light blinked at him, so he knew it was working. That was all he had to do, so after that he made a cup of tea, then tidied up his store cupboard.
That night, he heard scuttling noises again, but remembered what the Green Shield manual said: this was only to be expected. The mice were moving out.
Since then, he's not heard or seen a thing. The store cupboard remains tidy, the cereal packets sealed properly.
Every day, Dave walks past his Green Shield and smiles at it. The little green light blinks back at him. Dave is a happy man.
